Business leaders convened to discuss opportunities and challenges for Macau’s economic development as the city celebrates the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region, with a focus on China’s push for high-quality development. Jointly organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Macau (AmCham Macau) and China Global Television Network (CGTN), the forum, held at Wynn Palace, featured two roundtable discussions.

The first roundtable, themed “Ask China: A Deep Dive into 2024 Buzzwords”, brought together Macau deputies to the National People’s Congress (NPC) and members of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Discussions centred on key regional and national development patterns.

The second panel, titled “Why China: Groundbreakers – Strategic Insights from Macau’s Top Executives”, featured Linda Chen, President and Vice Chairman of Wynn Macau Limited, alongside Rui Pedro Cunha of the Macau European Chamber of Commerce and Carlos Cid Álvares, President of the Macau Delegation of the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce.

As a key takeaway from the forum, AmCham Chairman Charles Choy highlighted that it provided a platform for local and international business leaders to share insights and suggestions through in-depth dialogue. The event also helped participants understand the latest developments in China and Macau, fostering a stronger sense of belonging within the local community.

AmCham First Vice Chairman Alan Chan stressed the importance of bringing together NPC and CPPCC delegates alongside business leaders to discuss Macau’s economic development and explore mainland China’s economic progress and Macau’s role as a platform for promoting international cooperation.
